« Things I’m working on Back to the HAPPY!! »
I’ve been chatting with my peeps lately quite a bit. Feeling sorta weird about posting the other day that I’m having trouble handling the growth of this Glampyre Knits thing. Anyone with any business sense would never let on that they’re having growing pains…they’d just go along, smooth on the surface. But *I* just come out and say, “OK! This is more than I expected and I’m going NUTS!”
It’s not the extra work or the added orders that are driving me nuts, but the stress of not having everything go perfectly as planned on MY timeframe. (Speaking about all the 3rd-party involvements that go into it.) It’s coming together, though, and soon I’ll be sailing along like normal.
So many things have happened at this exact moment in time…that I’m caught offguard a little.

Happy memories of being 15 come with seeing that long-forgotten album cover. Thanks for the memory!
Steph, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I am a little disabled hobby knitter. Last year, I fancied being publihsed so did the rounds with patterns for accessories (hands too warped to do big work) and then have had massive interest from people, contrinutions to books, now doing pattern checking for a big publisher here as well and got a couple of knitters and I am beset with doubt and niggles. I.e. AM I really GOOD enough etc, and only last night, I viewed your site, your book and thought OMG I will never ever be up to Steph’s standards. I feel my stuff was ok up to a point and now it is like a runaway train! Now instead of fun, sleepless nights worrying about having to get a proper website going, the fact I have no time to be ill now, and things don’t go to your own pace one publishers are involved, they have ridiculous yuppy timetables and in the end, some photo shoots are all smoke and mirrors and yet you want your stuff to be better than ever not just pressured to take short corners. Know what I mean?????Be careful what you wish for etc
Hi Stefanie,
I just wanted to let you know that I started a KAL for the Cable Top Raglan. It is such a beautiful design. You can see us at:

Erssie,
It’s so wonderful to have things going as well as they are. I’m sure you’re feeling the same thing…it’s great to be busy!! I don’t mean to sound like I’m complaining at all. I’m waiting on the printer, waiting on this or that to arrive before I can finish something. If it was up to me, and I had everything at my disposal…I’d be fine.
It’s trying to get all these third-parties together that’s killing me.
I’m sorry to hear about your illness! I hope you are feeling well today.
Well Stef I have a lifelong chronic condition. It was that condition that brought me back to knitting so it wasn’t all bad but I am limited in what my hands can do. Mind you, I have fun writing patterns for Magknits, the Anticraft etc and in a couple of books too. Sometimes though, when I take on a big job (and I am dong a big desk job for a knitting book) I long for those days when you woke up and thought mmmm what do I fancy knitting today instead of having it all booked up months and months in advance. However, FO’s do liven you up, sometimes things work out better than one expected etc.
Would be very interested to know, do you carry a sketchbook journal with you? I have to, just cannot carry all ideas in my head so often submit stuff on paper, write the patterns and have a test knitter help me do the work. BTW, got two fantastic UK knitters working with me at the moment, if you ever get stuck for help their rates vary from £0 - anything I can offer them and I don’t take advantage. We just worked on new swatch books/Harmony stitch guides for £500/50 swatches but they will work for less if you do get stuck and flustered and it can work by post.
