« Rebecca #32?? paypal, payloadz, gimme a break! »
I feel like today is a lucky day, and like this will be a good week. Mercury came out of retrograde yesterday, so my (or ‘our’, judging by some of the comments and other blog posts I’ve been reading) communication woes and blockages of the mind should be over for a while.
I *do* feel unstuck. I only threw up once today, and not at all yesterday, so that tells me I *might* be at the end of Morning Sickness. Friday was the last day of the first trimester! We made it!!
Physical therapy also went well today. We’re moving past ‘adjusting’ into actually exercising and working on strength.
I made it to Post Office today, after several days of just not being up to it. Did you know that people can mail chickens? About 1/2 the times I go, there’s a rooster in the back, telling everyone, “Time to get up!” or “Let me out!!”
I finished up my baby surprise jacket. I never was able to find the label from that yarn, but believe me it’s just as well. I think it’s a little rough for baby garments, and I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s pretty on camera, though! Mom and I made some buttons last week, so I’ll take pics again when all the ends are woven in and the buttons are on.
The jacket was knit on 8s, so it’s a little big…maybe for an 18-24 month old. That’s ok, though.
**ETA: chest measured 24″ when I knit the BSJ on US 8s**
I wonder how much time I’ll have to knit for Hugo once he actually gets here?
I visualize myself having a happy, peaceful baby who loves to sit quietly. (insert big laugh) I picture myself just strapping him on in one of those sling things and going about my days knitting and writing and everything like normal. (Another laugh goes in here.)
The Spincycle yarn that I ordered arrived over the weekend, so I can make another sweater that will actually be soft and nice. (That’s a sexy sandwich of Booya Kasha and Lummi Island Sunset.) This yarn is so beautiful. I love the colors. It reminds me of saffron. Very India. SO. Do I do another BSJ? Do I do this other E.Z. sweater? (Brooklyn Tweed always makes me say, OK, I have GOT to make that.) Do I make one up? I’m feeling lazy, so I’ll probably wing it rather than try to follow a pattern.

Sounds like everything’s going well and calming down as far as the morning sickness thing. Good for you for going for it, I am still scared about that big plunge. You sound like you’re getting good advice re: Mercury but I can also do your chart if you want - just let me know!! My hippie mom taught me how to do charts and I’ve been quite familiar with it since.
Glad you’re feeling better-morning sickness is a drag! I’m also in love with that yarn—off to shop!
Gorgeous sweater, gorgeous yarn!
Congratulations on making it through the first trimester! Yea!!
Do you have the One Skein Book by Leigh Radford? There is the cutest newborn baby sweater pattern that’s pretty simple, you might want to check it out.
Oh, I have been trying to comment here for a long time, I am so excited that I finally got my password working.
1. Congrats on the baby! Like I said, it’s been a while!
2. As a Baltimore girl, I wanted to tell you that the ladies at A Good Yarn love your patterns and are so happy you had a book published.
3. I think that something simple out of that yarn like a raglan pullover with a button seam in the fronts would be cute…really easy so that you can “wing it” as you go along.
When I saw Brooklyn Tweed’s baby sweater, I also thought, “Man that would be an awesome sweater for an adult”. I say go for it.
Love your BSJ! Could you measure and tell us what the chest measurement is? I would love to make another one for my son (the first one used koigu and was tiny) and he will be in 18-24m size this fall.
Only in pregnancy can “I only threw up once today” be a good thing. That sweater is adorable!
OK, I have to admit that I’m just guessing that the sweater will fit an 18-24 month old. I don’t know any! But I’ll measure it!
Thanks for the suggestions on baby sweater patterns…I’ll have to check out “one skein”…and I like the front flap idea with the buttons!
Baltimore Shout Out!! Hi A Good Yarn peeps!!! Lorraine is definitely one woman who encouraged me to “Just try it!” I love that shop!!
You’ll be heartened to know that I knit a lot when my first daughter was a baby. Once you both get the hang of it, you can nurse and knit at the same time. And then when the baby falls asleep in your lap… well you could put the baby down and likely wake it. Or stay glued in the chair and get another good piece of knitting in.
Plus for a while at least your responsibilities are simple (take care of baby), yet it will seem like you are not getting anything at all done. Knitting’s a good antidote for that.
OH GOOD! I’m so glad that you were able to find time to knit. I’m imagining that i will, too. I hope so. it’s so hard to imagine what it’ll be like to actually have the baby!
