Steph,

I too left my full time job (Geochemist) to raise my baby. That was 2 years ago (we now have a second little one) and I am still loving the decision we made! It was such an adjustment during those first months! No deadlines? No meetings? No papers? No reams of data to pour and plug through ... No presentations? NO schedule? WOW! It blew me away! The first time since probably high school had I ever been so free! Now I spend my days showing my boys the beauty of the world and nature. And yes, a few rocks and minerals now and then ;). I wish so bad I would have kept making my soakers! I did not have a lot of support (from friends and family) when I was making them, and folks made me feel crazy for doing it. I did (and still do) cloth diapers for my little guys, but I have been using Bummis covers. Now that I see your beautiful soakers, I want to make them again! Perhaps I will be blessed enough to get to have one more baby in the future, THEN I will finally be able to make and use soakers!

I LOVE your maternity designs! Hmmmm, makes me want to think about another little one in a few years. By then maybe you will have published another wonderful knitting book of your maternity and baby clothes! (hint hint?) :)

Stef, I can't wait to see what you do with the yarn! And it's not like you'll really be a stay at home mom...you also have this teeny tiny knitting thing going...

I left my dream job as a diplomat when I had kids. It was a really hard thing to do, especially once the first baby came, and my life was reduced to feeding, changing diapers, and trying to get the baby to sleep so that I wouldn't keel over dead. I often felt like my life was over during those early months (okay, years). My kids are now 7 and 10, and I don't regret it. I work with kids a lot, and I am convinced you've made the right decision. Do your best to enjoy the time you've given yourself--it is over so much faster than it seems.

So any idea when the version 1.0 maternity sweater pattern will be ready? I'm 6 1/2 weeks along and itching to make something that will highlight my soon to expand belly! Plus, I just happen to have the necessary amount of Touche in my stash.
