I lost a good 10+15 pounds with both my pregnancies in the very beginning. AND I was eating normally for the most part. Don't let them worry you! You'll catch up. I did always at the end. It's hard though because they are the doctors and they freak out when someone doesn't do the predictable thing.

Ick! I would have been really upset, too! Your diapers are great. :) I've found that one-size diapers vary a lot. They're great on babies with certain builds, but work on others for only a very short time. My kids are small & somewhat slim & I've never been happy with them, myself. You may have some success planning diaper sizes based on the average size of newborns in your (and your dh's) family. How big were you and he at birth?

My sister just had her first baby & I'm not finished with the size smalls I made, but it didn't matter -- baby was 5 lbs, 11 oz, and won't fit into the diapers until she's a month old, at least. While I was there helping out I made 1/2 a dozen diapers that fit her now -- they fit in the palm of my hand (really, they do -- check out my blog)! Other than that, they have a dozen premie prefolds that they have to fold a third of the way down to get to fit.

Oh, and dumb question, probably, but you're prewashing the prefolds 3-6 times before you sew with them, right? They shrink quite a bit & some have oils in them (usually the unbleached ones especially) when they're brand new. Have fun!

I'm sorry you have to wait for the Ultrasound. I know I was on pins and needles the few weeks before we went. Glad to hear that there is lots of movement in there, that's a great sign! Just think how relieved you will be when you do get to go! What an amazing experience!
I hope this week is better for you, and you rock when it comes to the cloth diapers!!

I hope this week goes better for you :) Last week for me was bad too (car batter died and my parents dog chewed up my glasses), but this week seems to be better. I love the diapers you are making and I hope the little one is doing well!!! :)

I'm sorry they're making you wait to see your little one's debut. As someone who was pregnant at 36, I remember yearing to see my little guy and then, as several more sonograms came and went, wishing they'd just leave the poor guy alone! I hope that you have a lingering visit with your little one this week.

Hang in! It's totally understandable to be so disappointed about the checkup. There's nothing more important than how the baby is doing.

Um, do you know for sure if it is a boy or girl? Because it looks like you are getting ready for a boy?!

The nappies are great.
The little ones dont stay in NB sizes very long but unfortunately they go though a stack of dirty nappies in those first few weeks.
Many people use flats during this time and they can then be used as boosters later. If you make cute covers these can be swapped at each change.
I am about to start my nappy making and I am amazed at all the great patterns, supplies and info about compared to the last child I cloth diapered 10 years ago.
Best wishes with the scan, it is so exciting waiting for that 20 week one.
Cheers

I had to wait a week for an ultrasound once. My doctor was livid when he found out that one of his partners had made me wait (sad reasons). That was the longest week of my life. It was wrong of your health care provider to not call and offer to reschedule ahead of time, after all, if you change an appointment I'll bet that they require at least 24 hours notice.

Everyone gains weight at a different pace than what the doctors/midwives seem to expect. You'll probably catch up once food isn't gross anymore. Those diaper covers are darling and babies grow so fast that if they don't fit right when the baby is born, then they'll probably fit in a couple of weeks.

And now here's some advice from an old mother.....get some rest!!
