Ok, here’s the Kimono Wrap (Rav Link) from my book Glam Knits as it looks on me:
The belt has gotten lost somewhere along the trunkshow highway, and it doesn’t QUITE wrap all the way around my 6-mo pregnant self, but I still love it.
I didn’t even post the pic from the book…because it’s photoed inside OUT! (That was probably another big reason that I didn’t really fall in love with this book when it was new.) I designed this one to be worn as a jacket, either belted or not. You can stand the collar up, or fold it over, or just leave it off altogether when you’re knitting it. There’s no shaping, just big lace rectangles bordered with seed stitch trim. Simple. Quick to knit. HIGH visual impact. This is another one that was designed to flatter any body shape…not just you skinnies, as much as I love you!
Here I am showing off the big-needle lace (of which I am a HUGE fan…LOVE big fat lace!)

And, here’s the back…I love how it falls, and how you can see the lace at the shoulder.

This is knit in a Malabrigo semisolid, which gives the lace a lot of depth.

Again, here’s the Amazon link, in case you’d like to give the book a try. At less than $13, even if you only like THREE of the garments, it’s worth considering.
I don’t mean to sound like I’m pimping this book. I feel like I’m rediscovering these garments after about 2 years of feeling kind of bitter about the whole thing…and I want to give them their day.

I’m so glad you’re posting these “real” photos because we all know that stylized photoshoots can always go horribly wrong (happened to you, happed to Olga, happened to everyone not present when the shoot took place!)
I, too, really enjoy large gauge lace! I think the delicate stuff is absolutely lovely, but I really like this one scarf I’m knitting which is in Misti Alpaca Chunky, and it’s really glorious in this scarf, the pattern is Liesel, and it just looks great!
I love these knits! They actually have me thinking I had better knit something nice for myself once again. That jacket would be just the perfect thing for a fancy occasion or for when I want to feel all fancy-dancy at the gallery!
Hi! I’ve been reading your blog for a long time now and I just registed with WordPress today so that I could leave you a comment saying how much I LOVE you showing the real pictures of the garments from your Glam Knits book! It is sooo helpful. Although I’ve always loved your designs this book never really caught my eye…maybe because of the photo styling? Anyway, after seeing these pictures I’m totally going to put the book on my Christmas list!
thanks so much!
Like the above poster, I just registered with WordPress today so that I could leave a comment.
This is so helpful. I often wondered why Glam Knits didn’t speak to me like the rest of your designs. Now I know it is because they weren’t shown in the way you meant them to be. Thank you for the reality! I actually like several of the designs.
I love your book fitted knits! I made the ribbed shrug, the Bold and Bulky Mini Cardi, and the Cozy V Neck sweater with deep ribbing. I love them all! Maybe I will have to get Glam Knits
I cannot BELIEVE they had your lace sweater on inside-out… don’t people look at what they are doing?
I made a lace shawl for my grandma this summer while she was in the hospital. Unfortunately she passed away before I saw her to give it to her. So we decided that it would be fitting for her to be buried in it. The funeral director put it on her inside out for the viewing/wake/prayer service and his excuse was “womens’ clothes are complicated” Why don’t people actually do their jobs right?

I don’t think it is wrong to promote your own book on your own blog. You are doing this as a business. You should show us all the knits from this book. It was your artistic vision so you should show us your work the way you wanted us to see it.
