On Friday, Mazie and I were out doing some errands and were rear-ended at a stoplight.
I started going into premature labor (at only 28 weeks of pregnancy) and was admitted to the hospital. Mazie was also admitted for observation. Mazie was released later Friday evening, and I was kept until very late Friday night.
I did go into labor, with contractions every 2 minutes. They were able to stop the contractions with a shot (I didn’t make note of WHAT) at about 9pm, and I stayed for a few more hours for observation / fetal monitoring.
I’m happy to report that we are all ok.
This accident really made me think about how all of our lives could be changed in a second.
We are VERY lucky.

Yikes! Glad to hear you/baby and Mazie are ok! You just never know.
Long time reader, but never really commented before…How very scary! I am so happy to hear that you, Mazie, and Mazie’s future sibling are all okay. Thank goodness!
I’m glad to hear that you are all OK. I was in an accident when I was pregnant with my 13 year old son and also went into premature labor that they stopped as well. So I know how scary it can be. And you are right, we are all very fortunate! Take care.
Reading the first two sentences of this in Google Reader and waiting for the rest to load after clicking through very nearly sent me into premature labor (at a much safer 36 weeks, thank goodness). I am so grateful that you are OK!
Many warm thoughts to you and your family!
That must have been terrifying for both of you. I’m so glad that you are both okay. (finally figured out how to leave a comment!)
Oh no! I’m thankful that they were able to stop labor and that you, Mazie, and your new little one are okay.
oh no, Stef! I am so so glad you are all okay. That is super scary!
oh Stef, I am so so glad you are all okay. that is so scary! hugs to you and Mazie and your tiny one too.
Criminy! I’m glad everybody is ok, and that they managed to stop your labor.
Lots of hugs to you and yours!
I am so glad to hear that all of you are (relatively) O.K. after the accident. Our thoughts are with you that all is well from here on out
Good gosh! I am so glad that y’all are okay.
Many hugs and safe thoughts coming your way.
How scary! I’m glad you’re all OK!
Oh my! I am so glad that you are OK now. You are right–everything can change in an instant.
Wow - I’m glad you are all ok! That must have been very frightening.
Sorry to hear about the accident- Terbutaline, the drug to stop labor- saved my twins and kept them in the oven til 35 wks. Take it easy for a few days, drink plenty of water. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank Goodness you are both okay. What a good thing your pre-mature labor was stopped. Driving is so dangerous - we all do it without thinking yet it is one of the most dangerous things we do. Being rearended is very scary. No mater how careful you are you can’t control the other careless people.
I’m so glad you are both okay.

So glad to hear that all is well. It is so true, live can change in an instant! Life is precious, we are so blessed, take care!
Wow . . . so thankful that you, Mazie, and the baby are doing ok. What a scary experience.
I have been reading your blog from nearly the beginning. I love your work and knitting insights, but never commented. I gasped when I read your post. I am so glad that you are all healthy and safe. My DH and I are hoping to start a family soon, our prespective has started to shift. Anyway, I made him look at your seires of posts on the book modeling versus your modeling and we marveled at how cute you look and how the garments may not be designed for maternity use, but that they work well. Anyway, sorry for the ramble. Just wanted to say that I am glad you are okay and I really admire your work. Take care.
so glad that everyone is ok. hugs.
Blessings that all 3 of you are okay after that scare! Life is an especially precious thing after such a day, no?
Yikes! I’m so sorry that happened to the two of you; but I’m so glad to hear that you’re okay. I can’t imagine how scary it would be to go into labor at this point. I’ll be thinking good “stay in the oven” thoughts for you and the LO. Take care of yourself (and Maizie!).
omg. i am so glad you and mazie are okay!!!
happy new year to you and your family.
